Share Your Audiobook!

Audiobook Narrator - Reader

Share

Audible has just introduced a way that authors can share their audiobook with friends,  family and colleagues and make money doing it!

This new feature is called “Send this Book” and you will find it at the bottom of an audiobook description on Audible. It’s highlighted by the yellow arrow:Arrow pointing to Send this Book feature at bottom of Audible book page

In the official Press Release, Audible said “each recipient gets his or her first title through for free, and Audible will pay authors, actors and other rights holders the equivalent value of the title.” That means authors (and narrators, if they share royalties with the author) get a royalty payment for each book sent.

Here is how the “Send this Book” feature looks when you put in a recipient’s email or text address:

The limitations are:

  • to use “Send this Book” you (not the recipient) must be an Audible.com subscriber, which is currently $14.95/mo after a 30-day free trial
  • the audiobook you want to send must be in your Audible library
  • the person who receives your gift audiobook can only redeem one book per email address
  • the author only gets paid if the recipient downloads the audiobook

Audible Founder and CEO Donald Katz says “Now, for the first time, our listeners can send complete titles to anyone in the US and the cost is on us.”

What is the difference between “Send this Book” and “Gifting” a Book?

Give as a Gift Send this Book
When you choose the “Give as a Gift” option, you are purchasing an audiobook for someone else and this is treated as a transaction. Choosing Send this Book allows you to send an audiobook to those in your life. Sending is always free for the sender. Every recipient’s first book is on us. And any additional book will appear as a recommendation.
Every gifted audiobook is purchased by the sender. Sending books is always free for the senders. For the recipient, the first redeemed book is free. Every additional book sent to that recipient will appear as a recommendation and can be purchased at the recipients’ discretion.
Audiobooks purchased as gifts are sent through Audible and if the delivery method is email will come from an Audible email address. Audiobook recommendations sent through the Send this Book feature are sent by the customer using SMS, Email, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
Senders can only use the Give as a Gift option from the Audible desktop site. Audiobooks can be sent from Audible mobile apps, and the Audible desktop site and mobile site.
A gifted audiobook can only be redeemed by one person. Audible customers can send the same book to many people and everyone’s first book is free. .

Why is Audible doing this? To make more people audiobook listeners and buyers. There is no timetable set for how long this feature will be available, but it appears to be an excellent way to send out copies of your audiobook , and in return, ask for a review, which will help you sell more audiobooks.

And you only need to own an audiobook to be able to send it to anyone!

Thanks for your sharing. As an Audible audiobooks addict, here I would like to share a tip with you. If you want to share or use Audible audiobooks on other devices with others, then you can use the DRmare Audiobook Converter. It is a tool that can get Audible audiobooks as plain audios and then you can use them anywhere and anytime with ease. Just give it a try.

This sharing is really helpful. I always want to share with my friends when I listen to an interesting book. In the past, I cannot do that. But the sharing feature makes it come true.
